New Blog

Alright readers.  I just wanted to let you know of a new project I've undertaken.  It is

thepatricianssoapbox.blogspot.com

A lot of what you see or read on here will be written there, but there I am collaborating with a few other people, so it will be updated more regularly.  enjoy

This is who I am.

One of my biggest problems is time management.  Somehow I scheduled my day all wrong, and now I am sitting here with 30 minutes and nothing to do.  30 Minutes isn't long enough for me to unpack my backpack and get started on homework because it would take 5 minutes to unpack, another 10 to get organized, and lastly another 5 minutes to re-pack it all up in order to go to my meeting, leaving me only 7 1/2 minutes to work (wait, that can't be right).
With that, I decided that the best use of my time would be to share with you something I learned about myself
I am Jack Donaghy.

Let me elaborate.
1.  I am extremely good looking.  I persistently live in "the bubble."  I have the eyes of a majestic jaguar, the arms of the hulk, the barrel chest of a Disney Prince and the hair of... well... Alec Baldwin.
2. I am super successful. I have impeccable drive and motivation, which translates very well into work related projects.  If Six Sigma were a real thing I would be a seven.
3. I have had a great education, for which I worked extremely hard.  Just like Jack worked multiple jobs to get through college I worked 1, and lived off an inheritance--for which I inherited very hard.  No Seriously, it isn't easy inheriting money.
4.  The last trait is, that despite all of this, I am still extremely unhappy with life.  Jack had money, power, looks, etc., and still felt a void.

Work success, social superiority, rugged handsomeness coupled with perfectly maintained hair, and a magnetism that drives women crazy are all icing on the cake.  As anyone will tell you, it is not healthy to just eat the icing.  One needs to also have cake, otherwise things just start getting all clogged up inside of you--blood starts crystalizing, etc.  The actual cake (which to satiate my happiness will be a tiramisu from a fabulous little Italian bakery near Boston Harbor) is having a successful relationship.  I believe this is something after which Jack Donaghy sought throughout most of the show, and it is part of what makes me really relate with him.

After watching this last clip I realized that I also relate really well with Liz Lemon. This led me through a game of mental hopscotch wherein I learned that I am also "straight up mentally ill" like Tracy Jordan, moderately paranoid like Jenna Maroney, simplistic and Uber-religious like Kenneth Ellen Parcel, and I can relate with almost all the characters in some way or another.  It isn't such a big deal that I don't have a relationship like Jack because I am so happy essentially living 30 Rock.  Don't get me wrong.  It would be great to have a relationship, but I decide instead to focus on the positive (the glass isn't half full or half empty.  The glass has enough tiramisu to make me happy.  Always focus on the positive.  I don't do that often enough.  My strange case of OCD frequently prevents it, but it doesn't mean that it is any less important to try.

Why NBC, why did that show have to end? It was the wittiest thing on television. I will probably have to wait years for something comparable to be broadcast.
